Travelers preferring not to drive may take advantage of the Hill's many alternative modes of transportation. The Central New York Regional Transportation Authority (CNYRTA) and its subsidiary, CENTRO, provide regular bus service throughout the University Hill and adjacent downtown and suburban areas. For more information on CENTRO services call 442-3400 or visit the web site at www.centro.org.
Centro Service
An extensive network of innovative transportation systems has been developed on the Hill. CNYTRA's Connections Program is a carpool matching service that gets commuters together, free of charge. Connections' information database includes people offering rides as well as people needing rides to and from work. The purpose of Connections is to match commuters into carpools to make the journey to work cheaper, environmentally cleaner and more enjoyable.
Syracuse University students and staff have long enjoyed the benefits of the University's impressive shuttle bus service, which operates seven days a week. This shuttle system serves all of the major buildings and residence halls in the immediate campus area. With the assistance of the University Hill Corporation, Crouse Hospital created a free shuttle bus service for hospital employees. This program provides parking at the nearby Manley Field House and a shuttle service to the hospital. The positive response to these programs is indicative of the spirit of cooperation and resourcefulness shown by Hill employees and visitors.
