Final Design is Chosen for Connective Corridor in SyracuseConnective Corridor Design Concept, Image provided by Barton & Loguidice
Syracuse officials this week chose a final design concept for the Connective Corridor linking Syracuse University with downtown. The concept includes a center median with grass and shrubs and dedicated bicycle lanes that vary in placement depending on the traffic patterns of each section of the corridor.  Construction is expected to begin in spring 2011. Federal transportation money will pay for the project, which the city, SU and other partners are coordinating. Read More

Demolition of Former Kennedy Square Site, Gary Walts / The Post StandardSUNY Breaks Ground on Biotech Center
The proposed Central New York Biotechnology Research Center, a joint project of SUNY Upstate Medical University and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, will be built on four acres of the 14-acre former Kennedy Square public housing site between East Fayette and East Water streets.  The $20 million, 60,000-square-foot facility will create and support biotechnology, educational and research programs, as well as lease space to business involved in medical device development, medical research and biotechnology.

John McCabe, M.D., who has served in various key leadership positions at Upstate Medical University during his 22-year association with the university, has been named chief executive officer of University Hospital and senior vice president for hospital affairs. 
“John has been an outstanding leader at Upstate Medical University and has brought distinction to all the areas he has guided at the university,” said Dr. David R. Smith, president of SUNY Upstate. “The multifaceted leadership he brings to this position with his outstanding knowledge of clinical issues, academic medicine, hospital finances, our role in the SUNY system and throughout the region, will serve University Hospital and the public well as we move forward on many issues. US News & World Report Best CollegesSUNY-ESF Rises to 15 in U.S. News 'Great Schools, Great Prices' List
The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) has, for the eighth year in a row, earned a place among the top universities in America, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report.  In the "Great Schools, Great Prices" category of the 2009 edition of America’s Best Colleges, ESF is ranked 15th. The formula used in that category relates a school's academic quality to the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. ESF is the only SUNY institution listed in this category.  Read More
